How much paint, and which tins to buy PAINT
Needing 11.4 litres has more than one answer. Two fives and a two and a half, or one ten and a two and a half, cost different money for the same job.
The rooms
The openings
The reveal is the depth of the return around the opening, and it is paint. On a deep reveal it gives back most of what the hole took out.
The paint
A surface factor of 1 is smooth and previously painted. Bare plaster is nearer 1.3 on the first coat and a textured wall has more surface than its measurements say. Going from dark to light is a colour factor, not an extra coat you can leave out.

The working
How it works
PAINT works out how much paint a room needs and which tins to buy. Measure the walls, take off doors and windows, add back the reveals, set the coats, and it finds the cheapest combination of tin sizes for the litres needed and shows how much will be left over. Coverage on the tin is often optimistic, so it lets you set your own. The room details stay in this tab.
