OBSCURA by industry
The same tools do different jobs depending on whose files are on the desk. Each page below takes one kind of work, names the applications it would work in day to day, then the problems it has with files and the tools that deal with each, and walks through an example. Each ends with what a plan costs and what it does not include.
Pick the kind of work
For police, fire, ambulance and defence, the tools built for an incident rather than a desk, and the answers an information assurance review will want, are on their own page.
What is the same on every page
- Nothing is uploaded. Every tool reads the file from the disk and works on it inside the browser tab. There is no account and no copy on a server. The verification page shows how to check that in a minute.
- It works offline once loaded. A tool keeps working after its page has opened, and installing it keeps a copy that opens with no connection.
- Free to check, Pro to keep. The Workspace is free. Every other single tool is free to open and to check a file with, and saving the result is Pro. The applications on Apps, Case, Practice, Books, PDF Studio, Keep and the Sovereign Suite among them, are paid for as a whole.
- No certification is claimed. Each page says what the tools do and where they stop, and what an organisation still has to do itself.
What it costs
The Workspace is free for everyone, with no account, and every single tool is free to check a file with. For the applications and for saving, each person needs a plan of their own: a key is for one person, on every browser they use. Any one application on its own is US$4 a month or US$35 a year; everything is US$9 a month or US$79 a year. Both have 7 days free. Plans for a team or a business are not offered at the moment. A team or business that already has one keeps it, and whoever holds its key goes on adding people and taking them off at /seats.
There is no admin console, single sign-on, audit log or shared storage. The page for teams says so in full, with the answers a security reviewer will ask for.
