A project plan that tells you what actually matters
Which task can slip a week without moving the end date, and which cannot? That is the only question a plan exists to answer, and it is the one most free planners will not tell you. This works it out: slack on every task, and the chain with none of it drawn in red.
What it does
Plan is a project planner that opens as an application of its own. Tasks go into a sheet beside a Gantt chart; indenting a task makes the one above it a summary task; a task of no duration is a milestone. Links are finish-to-start, start-to-start, finish-to-finish or start-to-finish, each with a lag or a lead, and a task can carry a constraint and a deadline. The project calendar says which days are worked and which are holidays.
The critical path is worked out properly and drawn in red. A baseline keeps the plan as agreed so that slippage shows; progress and actual dates record what happened. Resources have rates and units, overallocation is flagged and can be levelled, and there are network diagram, calendar, resource sheet and report views. Plans open and save as the XML format desktop project planners use, and as CSV. Everything stays on this device.
